The YPC Chamber Singers / Francisco J. Núñez, Conductor

The YPC Chamber Singers is a multicultural group of young professionals and dedicated amateurs committed to choral excellence and diverse repertoire.

The ensemble began in 2000 under the direction of Cara S. Tasher, and continues to prosper as a thriving group of singers from varied musical backgrounds under the direction of Francisco J. Núñez.

The choir has performed throughout New York City and internationally, acting as choir-in-residence for the Festival of Lights in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic in the summer of 2002. Performance venues include Carnegie Hall, The United Nations, St. Patrick's Cathedral, St. Ignatius of Antioch Church and the 92nd Street Y among others. The YPC Chamber Singers have been featured in concerts with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, New York Choral Society, Riverside Choral Society, New York Univeristy Singers, St. Luke's Orchestra and the Westchester Symphonic Ensemble.

Repertoire performed spans a diverse spectrum of choral music, from Renaissance to contemporary, jazz, gospel and pop music genres.

The choir is involved in radio broadcasts and a variety of recording projects each year, and they participate in master classes and workshops for school and community choir directors each spring.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7-10 p.m., where an exciting atmosphere of community is created. Additional rehearsals are scheduled as needed. The Chamber Singers perform 5-8 concerts per season in non-tour years with summers off. There are also many opportunities for social activities outside of the rehearsal process.

Members have the opportunity to become Musical Mentors to children of other YPC divisions and to continue refining their skills and knowledge.
