The Young People’s Chorus of New York City at Washington Heights (YPCWH), the first after-school community program of the Young People's Chorus of New York City, is excited to sing a special free holiday concert for all of its families and friends in the Washington Heights-Inwood community. The program of music from many holiday traditions will be led by YPC Assistant Conductor Maria Peña.

Donations will be accepted at the door.

36th Annual “A City Singing at Christmas”
St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Fifth Avenue and 51st Street)

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City and Francisco J. Núñez join the Queens College Choir, the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Choir, the Cathedral Organ, and New York Symphonic Brass in this joyful celebration of Christmas with a program of traditional and contemporary Christmas hymns and carols in the majesty of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The evening closes with the evening’s performers and everyone else in attendance joining together to sing Silent Night by candle light.

Admission is FREE.  Come early for best seats.  More information is available from St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

New York’s Oldest Christmas Tradition

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City at Washington Heights (YPCWH) performs in a musical prelude to the annual holiday candlelight reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s "Twas the Night Before Christmas (A Visit from Saint Nicholas)".

Following the reading, audience members may join in a lantern procession and wreath-laying ceremony at Clement Moore’s mausoleum at Trinity Church, across the street from The Church of the Intercession.

The annual gala of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City supports a program that has touched and transformed the lives of thousands of children of all cultural and economic backgrounds for the past 28 years. Each year YPC’s program of diversity and artistic excellence reaches over 1,400 children, expanding the horizons of its members not only musically, but also academically and socially. The YPC Scholarship Fund supplements or covers tuition for any chorus member in need, and its College Bound program provides mentoring and counseling to ensure that every YPC graduate goes on to higher education. Now with YPC’s move into its new home YPC welcomes new and limitless opportunities to strengthen and grow its model both within the city’s communities and beyond.

Euroradio International Choral Competition
Munich, Germany

The Young People's Chorus of New York City flew to Munich to sing on Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, in the European Broadcasting Union's Euroradio International Choral Competition performances. YPC was selected by American Public Media (APM) as the only U.S. chorus to represent the United States in these performances.

Pope Francis Visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum

11: 30 a.m. – Friday, September 25, 2015
The Young People’s Chorus of New York City was invited to sing for Pope Francis on Friday, September 25 as part of his first visit to the United States. At 11:30 a.m., 100 members of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City conducted by YPC Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez sang a song specially arranged for this occasion at a multi-religious meeting for peace at the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

4:00 p.m. – Friday, September 25, 2015
Later in the day at 4 p.m. Francisco Núñez, who is also a composer and pianist, performed several selections during Pope Francis’s visit to Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem, a Catholic Charities event, where Pope Francis planned to spend time with some of the students.
