About Transient Glory®Transient Glory® was created in 2001 by Francisco J. Núñez and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City™ to spotlight the children’s chorus as an instrument capable of making music of the highest quality. Now, a decade later with more than 60 YPC premieres of music commissioned from many of the most visionary composers of our time, including Pulitzer Prize, Oscar, and MacArthur “genius” grant recipients, YPC’s Transient Glory™ is playing a huge role in the ever-evolving fabric of music in the 21st century.
Transient Glory® Symposium
Carnegie Hall Choral Institute & Transient Glory Symposium
From February 15 to 18, 2012, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute will partner with Mr. Núñez and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City in a three-day Transient Glory Symposium, which launches the new Carnegie Hall Choral Institute, the first in an annual series of workshops and concerts for choral conductors.
The Transient Glory Symposium welcomes eight conductor fellows and 60 auditors from across the country to explore eight Transient Glory compositions in depth with Mr. Núñez, the composers, and master conductors Grant Gershon, music director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale; Dr. Janet Galván, professor of music at Ithaca College, and Philip Brunelle, artistic director and founder of VocalEssence. Concerts hosted by WNYC’s John Schaefer featuring these works will be held at Le Poisson Rouge, the 92nd Street Y, and Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall over the three nights of the symposium.

The concerts are scheduled for the following dates:
- Thursday, February 16 - Le Poisson Rouge
- Friday, February 17 - Kauffman Concert Hall at 92nd Street Y
- Saturday, February 18 - Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall
