Sarah Knight currently serves as Vocal Area Coordinator at YPC and has been bringing her contagious joy and sense of humor to the choral group for the past seven years. Among her many contributions to YPC, Sarah’s expertise lies in vocal performance, vocal health, and ultimately, facilitating the young choristers’ growth. She hopes to inspire YPC’s young artists to always keep music in their lives.
During her time with YPC, Sarah has coached several choristers for various projects and auditions including, Young Alexandra – Atlas by Meredith Monk at LA Phil, Boy Soprano Soloist – Bernstein’s Mass with the New York Philharmonic, Young People’s Chorus – Odyssey: A Youth Opera, and Young People’s Chorus – International Choral Kathaumixw Festival, which earned YPC the befitting title, Choir of the World.
Prior to joining YPC, Sarah worked in Development with the New York Philharmonic. Her studies focused on classical voice and opera, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Eastman School of Music and a master’s degree in Vocal Performance from University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. She has also toured with The New York Harlem Theater Company’s Porgy and Bess in Italy, Germany and Israel, and played the lead role of Sarah in Ragtime at Actor’s Playhouse.
When Sarah is not leveraging her impressive skillset at YPC, she enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, reading, singing, indulging in entertaining television, cooking, and exploring the beautiful outdoors of New Jersey and New York. Sarah and her husband look forward to welcoming their twin boys in the fall!
