When you’re weary,
Feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes
I’ll dry them all
I’m on your side, oh when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street, my Lord
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I’ll take your part
Oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

I’ll be your bridge
O’er troubled water
When you’re down
I will carry you like a bridge
O’er troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you ever need a friend
Look around, I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

In Napoli where love is king, here’s what they sing:

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That’s amore (that’s amore)
When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine
That’s amore (that’s amore)

Bells will ring tingalingaling
And you’ll sing Vita bella
Hearts will play tippytippytay
Like a bright tarantella

When the stars make you drool just like pasta fazool
That’s amore (that’s amore)
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You’re in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you’re not dreaming
Signore
Scuzza me, but you see back in old Napoli
That’s Amore

That’s Amore
You’re in love

Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions but only illusions and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it,
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

It’s a little bit funny, this feeling inside
I’m not one of those who can easily hide
I don’t have much money, but, boy, if I did
I’d buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do
My gift is my song, and this one’s for you

And you can tell everybody, this is your song
It may be quite simple but, now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind, that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses, well they’ve got me quite cross
But the sun’s been quite kind while I wrote this song
It’s for people like you, that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do
You see I’ve forgotten if they’re green or they’re blue
Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple, but now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world

I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world

I wanna be a part of it, just one part!

I love New York, I wanna be a part of it
I love New York, I wanna be a part of it

Yes, you must take the A train,
You’ll find you’ve missed the quickest way to Harlem
Hurry!

Listen, to those rails a-thrumming.
Jump all aboard, get on the A train
Soon you will be in Sugar Hill in Harlem,

Ooh, New York
Grew up in a town that is famous as a place of movie scenes
If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere
That’s what they say
Even if it ain’t all it seems
I got a pocketful of dreams, baby, I’m from New York
These streets will make you feel brand new,
Big lights will inspire you
Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York!

New York, New York, it’s a wonderful town!

Start spreading the news
I’m leaving today,
I wanna be a part of it
New York, New York
I wanna wake up
In the city that doesn’t sleep
To find I’m king of the hill,
Head of the list,
Cream of the crop at the top of the heap.
My little town blues,
Are melting away,
I’ll make a brand new start of it,
In old New york.
If I can make it there,
I’ll make it anywhere,
It’s up to you New York, New York!

About YPC

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) is a multicultural youth chorus internationally renowned for its superb virtuosity, brilliant showmanship, and innovative model of diversity. Founded by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur Fellow and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year, YPC’s mission and values are deeply rooted in providing children of all cultural and economic backgrounds with a unique program of music education and choral performance. YPC is committed to empowering our youth and providing pathways to success through the arts so that each child, no matter what race, gender, socioeconomic background, or religion can reach their full potential. Among YPC’s many awards is America’s highest honor for youth programs, a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, which was presented to members of YPC at the White House. Under the direction of YPC’s Associate Artistic Director, Elizabeth Núñez, YPC also earned the distinction of “Choir of the World” in July 2018 at the International Choral Kathaumixw (Powell River, British Columbia), marking the first time a North American chorus has ever won this title in the 34-year history of Kathaumixw.
