POSITION OVERVIEW
Young People’s Chorus of New York City seeks a full-time Conducting Fellow to conduct YPC’s in- school choruses in New York City Public Schools and YPC’s Community Programs, and to assist and prepare the award-winning YPC After-School Choruses. The Conducting Fellow will work with the artistic team to create and produce curriculum, rehearsals, and concerts and will assist in program administration and special projects. This position also includes ongoing training with YPC’s team led by Founder/Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez and Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez. The position will begin in early fall 2023. YPC offers an attractive compensation package, which includes a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Arts (required) or Master’s (desired) degree in choral conducting or music education
- Experience conducting and teaching
- Piano competency
- Knowledge of and competence in conducting all styles of music
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a large and diverse team
- Desire to work in multiple environments

POSITION OVERVIEW
The organization has an immediate opening for a Grants Manager. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, they will take the lead on creating government & public writing, and additional grant writing: LOI’s, proposals, reports, and collateral materials; They will cultivate relationships with current government funders and reach out to new prospects, track multiple deadlines, coordinate with the program, artistic staff, and work closely with a highly collaborative development team.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Creating government & public writing (NYSCA, NEA, DCA, DOE) and ensuring timely submission of proposals, reports, and supplemental materials; maintain a deadline calendar and ensure that funders’ requirements are met, such as proposals, reports, acknowledgments, budgets, and other materials. Ensuring government funder compliance, online registrations upkeep, and government contract execution.
- Maintaining public & government grants deadlines in the Grants Calendar and regularly updating Assistant Director of Development on progress.
- Engaging program staff to ensure that reports and evaluations comply with government funder requirements.
- Coordinating Government site-visits and attending meetings.
- Participating in development team meetings to review progress towards meeting the organization’s annual development plan, reviewing grants calendar, and developing collaborative strategy for new funding sources.
- Greeting VIPs at performances and cultivation events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of grants management and grant writing experience
- Superb writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- High integrity and devotion to team efforts
- Self-motivated and a self-starter
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Ability to learn new procedures on the job without formal training
- Experience with and applied knowledge of databases and CRM systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, including Excel and Word
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of New York City’s young people
- Experience with Monday.com or other project management tools is a plus
- Knowledge of NYC arts/youth funding community is a plus
