The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) is a multicultural youth chorus internationally renowned for its superb virtuosity, brilliant showmanship, and innovative model of diversity.

Founded by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur Fellow and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year, YPC’s mission and values are deeply rooted in providing children of all cultural and economic backgrounds with a unique program of music education and choral performance. Young People’s Chorus of New York City has an immediate opening for a seasoned Database & Grants Manager. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, they will take the lead on writing letters, LOI’s, proposals, reports and collateral materials, create and modify Access database advanced queries, reporting, data imports/exports, ad-hoc and regularly scheduled data extract requests for the organization’s database, cultivate relationships with current donors (foundation and corporate) and reach out to new prospects; track multiple deadlines, coordinate with the program, artistic staff, and work closely with a highly collaborative Development team.


  • Manage and execute YPC’s government and foundation grants program
  • Database analysis and queries specifically in Access database
  • Ensure the timely submission of new and renewed proposals, reports and supplemental materials
  • Communicate effectively with current donors and new prospects
  • Identify and develop new prospects with support of the development and artistic team
  • Write grant proposals and LOIs
  • Perform maintenance of databases and tables
  • Provide technical assistance to other staff relevant to database technology
  • Assist with database backup and recovery
  • Coordinate site-visits and attend meetings
  • Work with artistic and education staff to ensure evaluations and reports comply with funder requirements
  • Participate in development team meetings to review progress towards meeting the organization’s annual development plan, review grants calendar, and develop strategy for new funding sources
  • Greet VIPs at performances and cultivation events


  • 7+ years of grants management and grant writing experience
  • Advanced applied knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Experience with the SQL Server / Access Environment
  • Superb writing skills
  • Proven ability to speak persuasively
  • Demonstrated success in building strong prospect lists, successfully presenting the organization to prospective funders, and building relationships that yield expanded and multi-year funding
  • High integrity and devotion to team efforts
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter
  • Ability to sustain focus on detailed and lengthy writing projects
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Ability to learn new procedures on the job without formal training
  • Knowledge of NYC arts/youth funding community is a plus
