Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival

August 1-30, 2024

YPC’s latest documentary, This Time Round, is being featured in the LA Lift-Off Film Festival! This online festival offers screenings for a small ticketing fee until September 1st, providing audiences with the opportunity to experience a diverse range of films from various lengths, genres, nationalities, and styles. Set at the historic and prestigious Raleigh Studios in the heart of Hollywood, the Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival stands as one of the largest festivals in the Lift-Off Global Network.

This festival serves as an honest, fair, and true celebration of American and International Indie Film, paying homage to the excellence of today’s grassroots filmmakers. Winners of the Los Angeles Lift-Off have the potential to receive automatic official selections at all subsequent Lift-Off Film Festivals held throughout the year and across the globe. The selection process is based solely on audience choice, providing filmmakers with a great opportunity to have their work seen and appreciated by a global audience.

Moreover, the festival offers a unique opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their work on a global stage and potentially secure distribution deals. LA Lift-Off provides a free service where selected works are taken to major film markets such as AFM, Cannes, EFM, with the aim of getting their work acquired by distributors. We are excited to be a part of this prestigious festival and look forward to sharing our documentary with audiences worldwide.

This Time Round explores the many facets of the extended COVID-19 pandemic’s intense emotional toll—fear, isolation, sadness and hopefulness—as experienced through the eyes of the young choristers and accomplished composers of YPC. This film features commissions from 15 of today’s renowned composers – including Paquito D’Rivera, Aneesa Folds, David Lang and Paola Prestini – and the voices of nearly 600 choristers who recorded themselves during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown.
