The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, along with South African composer and saxophonist Steve Dyer, presents Visions of Ubuntu at Lincoln Center. This event commemorates the resilient human spirit and the June 1976 uprising in South Africa against apartheid. Inspired by the courage of indigenous youth, the student protests led to a national movement. Leaders like Mandela, Sobukwe, Tambo, and Biko envisioned a harmonious country based on the ubuntu value system of collectivism, harmony, and restorative justice.
This event is part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City and is a free event. Learn more about the performance here!
