Fisher Center Lab’s “Suddenly Last Summer”

YPC joins the cast of a thrilling new opera based on Tennessee Williams’s fever-dream play Suddenly Last Summer—a haunting story of a family secret and a mother’s desperate attempt to silence the truth. When a young woman returns from a mysterious trip with a shocking account of her cousin’s death, her powerful aunt will stop at nothing to suppress her story, even at the cost of her sanity.

With music by Courtney Bryan and a libretto by Gideon Lester and Daniel Fish, this bold new work transforms Williams’s Southern Gothic drama into a gripping operatic experience. YPC brings its distinctive choral voice to this world-premiere production, helping to illuminate the tension, mystery, and emotional intensity at the heart of the story.
